Cutie Honey the Live (2007) Review

Cutie Honey Month comes to a close with the most recent Cutie Honey show, Cutie Honey the Live. Want to see how a live action version of a 70s anime works?

... Well, yes, there was the movie, but this worked better. How much better? You'll just have to watch.

Cutie Honey (Film) and RE Cutie Honey (2004) Review

Cutie Honey Month continues with a special two for one episode! We look at two versions of Cutie Honey that came out at the same time and shared the same series bible. One is awesome, the other is very much NOT awesome. Which is which? Listen to find out!

The World God Only Knows Review

Five Point Podcast Episode 40: The World God... by fivepointpodcast
The World God Only Knows: It's The Last Starfighter, only with more Dating Sims and fewer clones and aliens.  It's also a premise that requires a master touch.  Does this show work or fall flat on its NERD face?  Guess you'll just have to watch.

Requested by friend of the show Yerocha.  You can see his stuff at http://shadesofgreymanga.wordpress.com/

Princess Tutu Review

Having two jobs sucks... anyway, a week late, here's Princess Tutu, featuring Paranormal Rob!  You should totally check out his website (planet-rob.com), watch his vids and buy his swag.

In a world where the barrier between reality and fiction, one girl must save the day with ballet.  She fights anteaters, gravity and delusional restaraunteurs, while trying to start a relationship with an emotionless boy who already has an abusive boyfriend.  Also the girl is a duck.

I am not making this up.  To learn more, you'll just have to watch.

Star Driver Review

Star Driver, a trippy, bizarre magical boy robot anime starring a protagonist in a red t-shirt with a white star. Check out the review at fivepointpodcast.blogspot.net!

(whisper whisper)

fivepointpodcast.blogspot.net! It's dot com!

Also, apologies for the slightly wonky audio on my (Bobcat's) end.  I figured out what I was doing wrong only after the recording was all done.

Gun X Sword Review

Firstly, some apologies for the wonky audio. There were issues with the recording that weren't noticed until too late.

In a world where anime studios have run out of ideas, one man, Vann the Stampede, comes to show us why everyone shudders at the name Gary Stu.

Apocalypse Zero Review

We've had series recommended to us for a number of reasons. This is the first that was specifically asked of us because of how bad it was. Thanks a lot, SpacemanHardy. On the plus side, it gave us an excuse to bring in reinforcements, in the form of Paranormal Rob.

Rosario + Vampire Review

Happy Birthday, Burkion! As a gift to himself, Burkion chose the harem anime Rosario + Vampire. The question is... why would he do a fool thing like that?

Due to the subject matter this episode, we don't recommend this one for children. Not that we're for children in general, but we're especially not for children this week.

Mobile Suit Gundam Review

Mecha Month continues full steam ahead! We're hot blooded and raring for action! We believe in ourselves, who believe in ourselves! This meme doesn't work for more than one person!

Four score and eight years after humanity has gone to the stars! A ragtag crew of Earthlings must fight off a group of colonists gone rogue. Their only hope is a young boy named Amero and his giant robot, the prototype Gundam. How did we treat this venerable series that launched quite possibly the greatest anime franchise ever? As well as we treat anything.

...

We are so so very sorry.

Beast King Go Lion Review

To bring Mecha Month into full swing (after our April Fools debacle... ugh.), we start off with Beast King Go Lion or, as it's called in America, Voltron: Defender of the Universe.  We selected this show because we wanted to see what they'd changed.

... how can two shows be so similar, yet so completely different?

You'll just have to watch to find out.

Misfits Review (April Fools Special)

In this episode, Bobcat and Burkion tackle one of the sacred cows of the anime community: Neon Genesis Evangelion. Did it make a (third) impact on us, or did we want to run away?

Warning: due to the content of the show, some strong language was used this time around.

Time of Eve Review

This week, we did a request by MadShadow, over at the Desu Des Brigade Forums.

In the not too distant future (somewhere in time and space)... In what is most likely Japan, humanlike androids are as common as toaster ovens. Yes, that's right. Everyone has a robot maid... but apparently, nobody uses them for naughty purposes. Maybe this isn't Japan after all...

Episode 10: Fate/Stay Night

Woohoo! Ten episodes! And you all thought we'd collapse after a month. Well, we showed you!

... ahem.

In this episode, Bobcat and Burkion look at Fate/Stay Night at the request of Bobcat's friend Thanqol. In a world like our own, teen magicians battle one another for the fate of the world. Also, it's a show that eerily resembles a dating sim that cleaned itself up after a stint in rehab.

Casshern Sins Review- Featuring Yerocha

Because you demanded it! A crossover between the Five Point Podcast and Yerocha's Shades of Grey manga review! Be sure to check out his website at http://shadesofgreymanga.wordpress.com/.

In this episode, Bobcat, Burkion and Yerocha tackle Casshern sins. Set in a post apocalyptic future, one amnesiac man must try to figure out why armies of robots want to eat him. Was the series in working order, or did it need a quick tune up?

Spice and Wolf Review

In the eighth episode of the Five Point Podcast, Bobcat and Burkion delve into the popular series Spice and Wolf. How much will they love a show about medieval merchants?
Well, there's only one way to find out! ... but since they keep their phone numbers private, the next best option is to watch the episode.

Since I posted about the last requested review, we've had another review request.  So, here's our schedule for the next few weeks (assuming we can keep up our weekly update schedule, knock on wood.)

(Actual schedule after the break).
