Trigun: Badlands Rumble Review

Five Point Podcast Episode 43: Trigun: Badlands... by fivepointpodcast
A week or so late (thanks a lot, Blip.), we have our review of Trigun: Badlands Rumble. ... Oh lord, another movie review. AND it's a recent addition to a beloved franchise? Oh, this is going to be dreadful. ... or will it? You'll just have to listen to find out!

  2. Trigun will, sadly, forever be a polarizing thing. I really like the anime but I practically worship the manga. I hate hearing people say they only like the anime before it gets into the manga stuff because, I'm sorry, but that was not Trigun. The director wanted to do a comedy series and was practically forced to add manga aspects. Which is why the show waits until the halfway point to do anything. If it ain't the manga it ain't really Trigun in my opinion. I came to this opinion long after I'd seen the anime(which I watched in it's original VHS releases). Trigun has a depth, a often dark beauty and it asks you to consider the truly hard questions of life and challenges you to go as far as you can to improve its quality for everyone. I'm tempted to say people don't "get it". I wish they did so I'd have someone to talk with about it on equal footing. I think only JesuOtaku comes close to my love for it. Your review was pretty good, though. As for the movie, it was very good for something that was an extended Trigun but very much not Trigun episode (like so many of the orignal series were).

    1. I can understand that viewpoint. For me personally, I was turned off more by the art than anything else. For whatever reason, what was on the page in the first volume couldn't hold my attention. I know of the anime's bizarre origins, and frankly, I think it worked out oddly well.
