Mecha Month! Schedule Update 3/28/12

 Firstly, we're happy to announce (formally) that April will be Mecha Month.  We'll be looking at a mostly older shows, with one more contemporary show to keep us from getting HOT BLOODED 70S AND 80S MECHA ANIME poisoning.

And yes, that's a thing.  And yes, I had to post that in all caps.  The hot bloodedness made me.

Now for some housekeeping. 

It's been about two months since the last time we did a post on schedule updates; we've managed to get through most of the anime we'd had on the docket at the time.  What inspired this post is an e-mail from one "Angel of the Wolf," who made a whole bunch of requests all at once.  Beyond April, the schedule gets hazy, and we'd like you, the viewers, to tell us which shows you'd like to see us take on.

AMV of the Week #3

This week it was my turn.  I decided to whip out one of my favorite AMVs, featuring an anime that I enjoy on occasion with a version of a song I love.  I really wish they'd just put this cover on iTunes already.  I've been waiting since, like, 2003 for it to go up.  Ah well.

Time of Eve Review

This week, we did a request by MadShadow, over at the Desu Des Brigade Forums.

In the not too distant future (somewhere in time and space)... In what is most likely Japan, humanlike androids are as common as toaster ovens. Yes, that's right. Everyone has a robot maid... but apparently, nobody uses them for naughty purposes. Maybe this isn't Japan after all...

Rules Changes-Requests

In the past, we always said that we'd immediately dump whatever we were currently reviewing in favor of requests.  However, that was before we started having a firm plan for our reviews a month or more in advance.  In light of that, from here on out, review requests will be done in a timely manner, but will not NECESSARILY knock our schedule out of whack.  Mainly, I'm covering my butt so we don't have to mess with April's Mecha Month. 

However, on the flip side: in the past, we've also said to shoot for the obscure.  However, go ahead and request your heart out.  Even if we have prior exposure, we'll give it a shot.

Coyote Ragtime Show Review

This time, we went into a show blind. We knew nothing about it, we knew nothing about the popular opinion of it, we didn't even know its genre. But we knew one thing:

It had one of the greatest titles ever.

It also had one of the worst titles ever.

Such is the magic of Engrish.

This is another new feature we're introducing.  There are many fine Anime Music Videos out there, many of which don't get the attention they deserve.  We're going to do our best to fix that situation.  After this week, we'll be posting these on Tuesday; since the actual review was posted later than normal, I don't want to step on its toes.

Heroman Review

With apologies for the delay, here's our review of Heroman.

As a birthday present to himself, Bobcat selected the topic of this review, Heroman. Why? Because it was created by one of Bobcat's personal heroes, Stan Lee! Is this the anime Spider-Man, the anime Nightcat or, God help us, the anime Striperella? Watch to find out!

I've decided to introduce a new feature around here. Every week, Burkion or myself will choose the most random online vid we've seen all week and post them here for your enjoyment. They won't always be anime related, they won't always be in good taste and they won't always be, y'know, GOOD... but they will supply 50% of your FDA daily recommended dose of random. In this episode, Bobcat and Burkion look at Fate/Stay Night at the request of Bobcat's friend Thanqol. In a world like our own, teen magicians battle one another for the fate of the world. Also, it's a show that eerily resembles a dating sim that cleaned itself up after a stint in rehab.
