Yes, because nobody demanded it: Cutie Honey Month! Every weekend this March, we'll look at a different incarnation of the long running anime and live action magical girl franchise Cutie Honey!
Why Cutie Honey? First answer, why not? Second answer is, it's been a while since we did a theme month, and it seemed like an interesting way to get a cross section of how Anime has evolved over the decades.
Also, just for fun, here's an AMV with more than a few curse words. You've been warned. Thanks to crocodude over at YouTube. You should check out his AMVs!

Well, it's been one year since the first post here on the site. It's been a fun and wild ride since then. However, this isn't the REAL anniversary. Come back Wednesday for our our REAL first anniversary special, commemorating the date of our first review, Baka and Test.

Podcast Delay
Due to lots of stuff in my (Bobcat's) work schedule, this week's podcast (Princess Tutu, featuring Paranormal Rob) is going to be delayed until Friday. Thanks to everyone for your patience.

Policy and Scheduling Change Announcements
Hitler finds out the Five Point Podcast is... by fivepointpodcast
The videos should explain sufficiently what we're doing. To sum it up,
1) We're switching from doing the podcast weekly to every other week (biweekly). With work and real life, we don't have time to devote every single weekend to the podcast anymore.
2) We're closing requests. We have too many at this point, and it's only fair to the people who have already made requests that we don't drown them out under new requests. If we get through the list, we'll reopen them at some point.
That's all. If there are any questions or comments, leave them below.

Announcement: Paint It Black Month
This June, the Five Point Podcast will review four shows. What do they have in common? By amazing coincidence, the word Black is in all of their titles.
Hey, I've heard of flimsier justifications for a theme month.
Enjoy as we cover the well known, the obscure and one bizarre show based on the work of... ROGER CORMAN. There will be...
Crossovers!
Vampires!
Surgeons!
Child Abuse!
And more!
The Schedule:
6/3: Black Blood Brothers (Request from Angel of the Wolf)
6/10: Black Heaven (Request from Angel of the Wolf)
6/17: Black Scorpion (Request from Legendmaker) (Guest star Legendmaker)
6/24: Black Jack (Guest star Yerocha)

New Request Page
I've decided that rather than bogging down the podcast proper every once in a while with updates about requests, I've gone ahead and added a request page, http://fivepointpodcast.blogspot.com/p/requests.html If you have a request to... request, check here to make sure someone else hasn't requested it first.

Poll Results
A few weeks ago, I decided to throw up a poll. I decided to see what sorts of shows people wanted us to review. You can see the results after the break.

Mecha Month! Schedule Update 3/28/12
Firstly, we're happy to announce (formally) that April will be Mecha Month. We'll be looking at a mostly older shows, with one more contemporary show to keep us from getting HOT BLOODED 70S AND 80S MECHA ANIME poisoning.
And yes, that's a thing. And yes, I had to post that in all caps. The hot bloodedness made me.
Our April schedule is:
4/1: Neon Genesis Evangelion (Mecha Month)
4/8: Beast King Go Lion (Mecha Month)
4/15: Mobile Suit Gundam (Mecha Month)
4/22: Getter Robo G (Mecha Month)
4.29: Asura Cryin' (Mecha Month)
Now for some housekeeping.
It's been about two months since the last time we did a post on schedule updates; we've managed to get through most of the anime we'd had on the docket at the time. What inspired this post is an e-mail from one "Angel of the Wolf," who made a whole bunch of requests all at once. Beyond April, the schedule gets hazy, and we'd like you, the viewers, to tell us which shows you'd like to see us take on.

Princess Tutu (Request by SpacemanHardy)
Samurai Girl: Real Bout High School (Request by Sloth)
The World God Only Knows (Request by Yerocha)
Trigun: Badlands Rumble (this one will have to wait until it's available to stream somewhere, or we get physical copies of the DVD. It's just on our long range "to do" list.)
Also, since there's been some confusion: we don't review hentai. Sorry, it's just outside our comfort zones.
If you listeners at home have a request of your own, or you just want to chime in on which of these you'd like to see us do sooner, you can comment below or e-mail us at darthbobcat@gmail.com.

Episode Delay
Hello, everyone. Happy Birthday to me (Bobcat). Unfortunately, due to birthday festivities and the like, the episode will be coming out a little late. How late? I'm not sure; it depends on how much fun I have tonight. At the latest, the new review will be up tomorrow.

Schedule Update
Since I posted about the last requested review, we've had another review request. So, here's our schedule for the next few weeks (assuming we can keep up our weekly update schedule, knock on wood.)

Tales From Earthsea Review Announcement
Now that we've actually watched it and the capricious schedule of Netflix can't stop our review, we're proud to announce that our next review (which should be up sometime tomorrow) is of the studio Ghibli film "Tales From Earthsea." Hopefully we'll be able to get to Ponyo at some point in the future.
Remember, if there's a series you'd like us to review, you can comment below or email us at darthbobcat@gmail.com.

Heat Guy J Review
Hi everyone. After nearly a month (I can't believe it was that
long), Burkion and I return with our review of Heat Guy J, from the
creator of The Vision of Escaflowne. Did we like it, or were we left
cold?
Also, a quick update on the schedule. Although we said at the end of the video that our next review would be Ponyo, Netflix took it down from its streaming list. Don't worry, we'll find something else to review from Studio Ghibli (I'd say what it was, but I don't want to jinx us; this is the second time that something I'd been working on was torpedoed because Netflix picked the wrong week to take something down).

A Quick Explanation
As you may have noticed, we didn't update for Christmas, Boxing Day or New Years. This is because I (Bobcat) had some technical problems. The hard drive for my laptop died at 12:15 on Christmas Night (thus ruining Boxing Day, but not Christmas). It's currently over at Dell (hooray for warranties), and new episode production is stalled until it comes back, which will hopefully be soon. Sorry for the delays and I hope everyone had a good holiday season.

Episode 3 Announcement
Hello everyone. While we were (thankfully) able to get Episode 2 on schedule, outside commitments will prevent Burkion and I from producing the Five Point Podcast this week. We're shooting to have our Heat Guy J episode released sometime before the year is out.
However, just because we won't have a full podcast doesn't mean that you'll walk away empty handed. If all goes well, we'll have a little Christmas gift posted for you. Stay tuned and keep your fingers crossed.
Edit: Due to familial commitments tonight, I wasn't able to get my script done, much less my recording. I'm shooting for a Boxing Day release. Either way, you can definitely look forward to a new full podcast before the year is out.

Proposed Schedule
Hello, Bobcat here. I hope everyone's having a good holiday season.
It occurs to me that in the excitement of starting the blog and getting the various accounts set up, I've neglected to mention what our plans for the future are. While our original plan had been to review more than anime, the mix of what we've selected and what friends of the show have requested has been 100% made in Japan. Well... I'm sure all of them are available to us in dubbed form, which messes with the percents a bit... 70% made in Japan, at minimum. Whether we'll slip into being a full time anime podcast or branch out later will depend on what people want from us.
Whatever we wind up doing, our goal is to do our reviews on a weekly basis. I'm not sure whether we'll settle on Sunday or Monday for our release date. At the moment, our intent is to record on Saturdays, but with the holidays upon us, that will probably be disrupted... especially since two Saturdays from now is Christmas Eve, and the one after that is New Years Eve. If we can manage a recording on either of those days, I will eat my hat. And I have quite a selection of them at that. Whether this results in a delay of a few days in a double-post week, if we'll be able to record beforehand, or whether we'll just be outright delayed remains to be seen.
However, what I can post with confidence is the order of reviews. If everything goes well, we'll be through this by the start of February.
Episode 1: Baka and Test (Complete!)
Episode 2: Nanaka 6/17 (Requested by Hika Yagami)
Episode 3: Heat Guy J (Selected by Burkion)
Episode 4: Ponyo (Requested by Bree)
Episode 5: Hero Tales (Selected by Bobcat)
This is somewhat subject to change. As always, we take requests, and will gladly put them ahead of our own choices. So, say, we'll delay Hero Tales, but not Ponyo, since that was a request. If you have a request, please send that e-mail to darthbobcat@gmail.com, or put it in the comments below.
Good night and good luck.
